Basil is fragrant summer annual herb that stereotypically pairs with tomatoes and is the main ingredient in most pesto recipes, although it can be added to a variety of dishes - Indian, Thai, and Italian cuisines for starters. And in desserts and ice creams as a finisher!

Storage: The best way to store basil is to place the stems in a jar of water in the fridge. I have yet to manage not to knock the jar over within 5 minutes of placing it in the fridge, so... I suggest just keeping basil in a plastic bag in the fridge. Wash just prior to using.
Preparation: Remove leaves from stems, rinse under running water, and pat dry. Use as specified in your recipe. Basil is bets used raw or added at the very end of cooking.
